Man arrested after cyclist seriously injured in collision on Edinburgh Way

A MAN has been arrested following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a bicycle in Harlow.

Emergency services were called to Edinburgh Way at about 1.40pm today, Wednesday, September 20.

The cyclist, a 59-year-old man from the town, was airlifted to hospital in a life threatening condition.

A 57-year-old man from Scotland has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in custody for questioning.

The road is partially closed at the junction of Edinburgh Way and River Way and this is expected to remain the case until at least 7pm while investigation work is carried out.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and are thanked for their patience.

Fire Brigade Report

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision today.

On arrival, fire crews found one person was trapped beneath a heavy goods vehicle.

Firefighters worked to free the casualty by 2.30pm, before leaving them in the care of the Ambulance Service.
