HEATH PLAYERS

“PROOF” by DAVID AUBURN

Performance dates are 9th, 10th and 11th November at Hatfield Heath Village Hall.

The next production for the Heath Players is the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Proof” by David Auburn.

One of the most acclaimed plays of recent times, it explores the link between genius and insanity. Catherine, the daughter of a brilliant and groundbreaking mathematician, is haunted by her father’s past and the shadow of her own future. When her father’s genius slips away he leaves behind a mystery. As she struggles with her doubts Catherine also has to contend with her overbearing sister and the attentions of one of her father’s students.

What is it that she has to prove, both to herself and others?

Filmed in 2005 starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins, Hope Davis and Jake Gyllenhaal, the stage production provides the audience with plenty of humour as well as a lot to think about and a puzzle to resolve for themselves.

The cast for “Proof” includes Heath Player’s stalwart Mark Ratcliff as well as newcomers Jenna Young, Jo Gladstone and Stefan Mullard.

The production is directed by Bernard Moule who was recently seen in the Heath Players award winning production “The Last Romance”.
