Shoppers dig deep to help festive Foodbank
As part of the drive to collect food supplies for those most in need this Christmas, students from Passmores Academy got involved in promoting Harlow Foodbank at Tesco, Church Langley last week. MP, Robert Halfon came along to provide support and for hours, the students worked tirelessly, appealing to the generosity of local shoppers. Their hard work paid off, as enough donations were gathered to fill a staggering fifty-one crates. As if that wasn’t enough, many of them stayed behind to help pack the crates ready for distribution.
Harlow Foodbank currently feeds almost three-hundred people each month, with around 40% of these being children.
Passmores Academy staff member, Jo Busson, said, ‘I could not be more proud of our young people giving up their free time to help others, especially those who chose to stay longer to keep helping. We were all overwhelmed by the customers of Tesco and how generous they were with their donations.’
500 000 people in the UK use a food bank now the Harlow food bank serves 23000 people a year The Tories have caused this and heres Halfon turning up and posing for photos like hes a hero. His votes contributed to people needing teh food bank. Dont give him credit for it- ask him what the government is doing to get rid of food banks and sort out the mess theyve turned this country into!
