HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has called for Prime Minister to “re-think” her appointment of Toby Young as a board member of the Office of Students (OoS).
Journalist Toby Young has been an active supporter of the Free School system but it is controversial tweets that have brought into question the appointment.
Writing in The Sunday Times, Mr Halfon, who is chair of Commons Education Committee has said that the appointment “smacks of the elite”.
“What people hear over the airwaves is some posh Tory denigrating disabled ramps, working-class children and those with additional needs.”
Mr Halfon believed that the appointment undermines recent proposals by the Department of Education over social mobility.
“The Conservative Party is a compassionate party but we tend to fall into elephant traps of our own making.”
He's a RED mole.
