Free Movie Night

MOMENTUM Harlow is inviting Harlow families to enjoy a movie with them, for free, and including free sweets and drinks. (Sweets & drinks sponsored by Garden of India Restaurant, Bush Fair.)

A spokesperson said: “Momentum Harlow are very aware of the financial challenges faced by many families in the current climate of ‘austerity’ and cuts. We believe that a visit to the cinema should be a social experience accessible to all families; but sadly, for many people, commercial cinema is just too expensive. We hope that in the absence of any charge for the early evening entertainment, visitors will feel able to bring with them a small donation for Harlow Foodbank. (We will deliver all donations after the event, and no-one should feel pressured to make any donation they cannot truly afford).

If you’d like to come, please just click ‘attending’, and email your name and number of people to [email protected] We can accommodate 200. If necessary we will advise, when it is full, of the next available free showing.

Another red gimmick on the pretence of helping the needy, made me smile. Must ask, who'se actually footing the bill ? Labour at your PERIL.

If a gimmick is trying to provide just some of the 5000 children in poverty in Harlow with something to look forward to in half term; an entertainment for them to enjoy for free, whilst also collecting donations for the local foodbank, then yes, it's a gimmick. I can advise also how it is funded. 1) Individual donations from Harlow Labour Party members, to a crowdfunding page 2) Labour Party members and guests will also attend a later film the same night, and make donations, pay as you feel. This has already raised enough to follow this event with a further similar event later in the year. 3) Everyone involved is providing their time for free. There is no Council funding whatsoever; Momentum are paying the full rate for the hire of the Latton Bush Centre,, and sweets etc are being paid for by a local business.
