A Marathon Fundraiser for No Child Without
Harlow runner, Jody Randall has pledged to support local charity, No Child Without when he competes in the Southampton Marathon this spring.
After applying unsuccessfully for a place in the London Marathon, Jody was undeterred and determined to find a way to raise money for the Harlow charity. He has managed to secure a place in the Southampton Marathon which takes place on Sunday, 22nd April, 2018. Jody will donate all money raised to No Child Without, which is run by Passmores Academy and raises funds which enable children from across the whole town and beyond to access educational opportunities they would otherwise miss out on.
Although Jody has completed half marathons in the past, tackling the full distance of 26.2 miles is a new challenge for him. The preparations involve an intensive twenty-week training programme which is designed to become more demanding as the weeks progress.
With strong links to Passmores, the charity is close father of three Jody’s heart. Explaining why he chose it, he said: ‘All of my children are at, or have been through Passmores. I was a student there and my wife also works at the school. As a family we are lucky and have been able to provide for our children, but others are less fortunate. No Child Without can make experiences that would not necessarily be available to children in the Harlow area become a reality’.
Jody is aiming to raise at least £500. If you would like to make a donation, this can be done via Jody’s Just Giving link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jody-randall1. Additionally, donations can be made by text message to 70070, entering SOUM74. The amount of the donation will be added your mobile phone bill.
