A NUMBER of GP surgeries in Harlow have asked for patience as over 3,000 patients from Osler House scramble to find a new doctors.

On Saturday, The Hamilton and Ross Practice in Bush Fair had an information stall in the Ross surgery. Osler House patients could pick up application forms and there was also a map of the practice’s catchment area.

The surgeries also published a message on their website and in their hallway.

The message stated: “Please note that owing to Osler House Surgery announcing their closure with effect from the 30th April 2018 we are experiencing a very large number of enquiries from Osler House patients seeking to register at this practice.

This is a situation beyond our control and may result in your telephone calls taking a little longer to deal with as usual and may also mean your prescription not being ready for collection within the normal 2 working days period.

“We apologise for any inconvenience you may experience & thank you for your patience & understanding over the next few weeks”.

Church Langley Medical Centre has also placed messages on their website and on the front door of the surgery.

The surgery will be open on Saturday 10th March 2018 09:00am – 11:00am for new registrations.

Harlow Common councillor, Maggie Hulcoop also had a busy weekend as she addressed the concerns of her residents.

“Cllr Hulcoop said: “I am not happy at all and am very concerend for my residents. I was in Wrights Court sheltered accomodation (opp. Red Lion) and many residents are upset and now face difficult journeys.

“The lack of consultation is appalling but I will not rest until this matter is resolved”

What a catastrophe. It's already difficult to get an appointment at the Hamilton, and other practices. With long waits to see a GP being the norm, the closure of Osler House Practice can only make matters much worse across Harlow. This is a direct consequence of the Tories stealthy privatisation and fragmentation of health services. You can't trust the Tories with the NHS.
