Did new system in Church Langley cause traffic woes?

News / Thu 15th Mar 2018 at 04:40pm

THERE were a number of traffic woes across Harlow on Thursday morning.

There were no obvious traffic incident. It appeared to be sheer volume of traffic.

This was little compensation to the residents of Church Langley who suffered from terrible tailbacks.

Many wondered if the new road layout was part of the problem or part of the solution.

On Wednesday night, Essex Highways staff were out putting the road that comes out of Church Langley into two lanes with a side box junction.

Many are also concerned that this may be the new reality for road users.

It is a great worry as many were late for work, missed appointments and to some self employed people that meant no money earned.

We will follow all this up and assess what can be done to address the traffic issues.

Wait until the new motorway exit, and the massive development on Gilden Way comes into force within a couple of years, a more idiotic scheme I have yet to see. The future for these areas is going to be choked with non-stop HGV traffic, and the possibility of thousands more cars. What was, a rural area, is going to be destroyed by ineptitude and lack of fore-sight. Heaven help Churchgate Street, Old Harlow, Church Langley and the Mark Hall areas.

As a regular user of this roundabout the changes actually make sense and on the face of it (the work isn't finished yet) will calm and keep traffic in the correct lanes on the roundabout itself, of course it won't stop the screaming idiots speeding or on their phones that cause accidents but it will reduce their ability to do stupid things

Obviously you're not in the area when the school chaos ensues. Come and try the round-about when the parents arrive and depart. Two schools within 150 yards. and , very few that walk ,double parking ensures that Hobbs X Rd becomes a one way unit with queues to the Gilden junction. Campion Hill is a solid stream of traffic, often, almost back to Sheering, fifty ton trucks dodging through Churchgate Street to avoid the snarl ups from Mark Hall. That's the truth of the matter. Where do you get the speeding from ? Ah, you don't travel in the rush hour, or two. The only thing that's stupid is the wretched plan to de-ruralise the area.
