Easter: The Gruffalo is coming to the Harvey Centre

THE Harvey Centre in Harlow is excited to announce that they will be welcoming children’s picture book favourite, The Gruffalo to the centre this Easter.

The loveable beast that is The Gruffalo will be making appearances at intervals between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 31st March – the perfect opportunity for children and families to see this classic character brought to life.

Children will also be able to let their imagination run wild as they make wooden spoon puppets in the centre’s craft workshops – organised especially for the event.

Expanding on the literary theme, a storyteller will be adding another dimension to the experience and reading a variety of popular children’s books.

All events are FREE of charge to participate – offering families the perfect antidote to bored children at the start of the Easter holiday break, with no impact on the purse strings. By making a move away from traditional Easter themed activities, The Harvey Centre hopes to offer Harlow families a unique event that every generation can enjoy.

The Gruffalo is a children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. It tells the story of Mouse’s encounter with The Gruffalo while taking a walk through the deep, dark woods. The book has sold over 13 million copies and has won several prizes for children’s literature, and has been developed into plays on both the West End and Broadway.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “We’re really excited to be welcoming The Gruffalo to The Harvey Centre this Easter. This character is a childhood favourite so we are expecting a very busy Easter weekend! We made a deliberate decision to deliver something a little different this Easter we hope everyone enjoys the experience.”
