ON Saturday 21st July The Harvey Centre held a free summer beach event from 11am to 4pm. The seaside event was a huge success and busy throughout the day, with families eager to entertain their children during their shopping trip.

Activity took place on the ground floor of the centre and was transformed into a seaside paradise with palm trees, surf boards, deck chairs and parasols, plus shells, crabs, lobsters and starfish.

There were a number of free workshops for children to enjoy including a free t-shirt design workshop where children could decorate and personalise their very own t-shirt with fabric pens, glitter and stick on gems to wear during their summer break. They could then get into festival spirit by getting a free glitter tattoo or by having their face painted.

There were also a variety of seaside-themed games of skill to keep the kids entertained, including ‘hook a fish’ with great prizes to be won, as well as ‘hoop the seal’.

Families were also able to enjoy some fabulously fun seaside themed photo opportunities – including one with the centre’s visiting dolphin ‘flipper’! Plus, Freddie the Fish made appearances throughout the day for hugs, high fives and selfie snaps!

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre said, “This beach inspired event created a real buzz in the centre on Saturday. The kids absolutely loved all of the entertainment – the workshops went down particularly well and I saw some very artistic kids creating some very fashionable t-shirts. We are planning a number of family fun events in The Terrace for the remainder of 2018 so keep an eye on our website for more information!”
