Combine Harvester destroyed by fire on Harlow Road

ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire involving a combine harvester and a stubble field on Harlow Road in Matching Tye.
The area of the field on fire measured approximately 25m x 25m.
Update 9:45pm – Firefighters report they are making good progress tackling the fire.
Update 10:15pm – The fire has been extinguish. The combine harvester has been completely destroyed. Firefighters will remain at the scene for a further hour to dampen down the area affected and check there is not hot spots remaining. Crews will also be checking the hopper (containing six tonnes of corn) to check to fire has not affected it. Crews will leave the scene as soon as the whole scene is safe.
