Bush Fair Fayre returns following the success of last year

ON Saturday 25th August Bush Fair will host a summer fayre for the local community. The Bush Fair Traders’ Association and local councillors, Ian Beckett, Eugenie Harvey and leader of the council, Mark Ingall are organising what promises to be a spectacular event to kick start a busy and exciting Bank Holiday weekend in Harlow.
The shops in the much-loved precinct will be hosting the Bush Fair Fayre for the second year running since the original fayre that gives the area its name was stopped in 1879 due to excessive debauchery!

Local business owner Jamie Smart of Quick Stop Baby Shop thinks the day will be an even bigger success than last year. “The number of people wanting to be involved has been fantastic, so much so that we’ve had to turn stall holders away. It really shows the difference that businesses and the community can make when we work together”.
Festivities will begin at 10am and go right through until 5pm with a DJ providing the soundtrack to what is sure to be fun event for all the whole community.

With a funfair feel, there will be a car carousel and pony rides for the little ones as well as candy floss, popcorn, slime and slush. The pedestrianised area will be lined with stalls offering handmade crafts, gifts, jewellery, pet accessories plus lots more.

Harlowsave Credit Union will have a stall from which they will be sharing information about their services, there will be a treasure hunt to encourage visitors to visit every shop with wonderful prizes donated by the traders and stall holders and the police cadets will be on hand to keep a friendly eye on proceedings.

Entertainment will be provided throughout the day by local singer Anita S., with demonstrations from Michelle Clarke’s FitSteps, Dan’s Dance, Kazen Kai Martial Arts and Belly Belles who will offer people the chance to take part in a mass belly-dance.

St. Elizabeth’s Charity Shop will be holding their spectacular tombola, Quick Stop Baby Shop will have a range of fun activities for the young and young at heart, and once again there will be pets from Pets Corner including the ever-popular reptiles!

Councillor Ian Beckett is excited about the event, “Helping bring back the Bush Fair Fayre last year was a dream come true and it’s fantastic that local traders and the community have taken a more active role in organising this year’s Fayre.

Having the Harlow Carnival starting from Bush Fair on the following day (Sunday 26th August) is the icing on the cake and a lot of the traders will be open for that too!

“We would like to thank Places for People and Harlow Council for their support.

Why not bring a little fun into your Saturday shopping routine and support local businesses and organisations including Mr Saver, Mind in West Essex, Joy Flowers and Wright and Sheppard Butchers – it really will be the best of Bush Fair!
