Harlow SOUP announces the four projects to pitch at its next event on August 30th.
The crowd-funding volunteer-led group, Harlow SOUP, has announced the four successful community projects set to take the stage at the next fundraising event at Pemberley Academy, Harlow.
The four Harlow projects will be:
– Teens Unite – support for young people battling or who have battled cancer
– Harlow Rock School – for the refurbishment of rehearsal space including upcycling furniture
– Freshwaters Contact Centre – to create a safe meeting place for children with parents or grandparents they have been separated from following family breakdown.
– Harlow Community Funeral Society – a not for profit, providing simple, affordable, dignified funerals.
Starting at 6.30pm, community diners attending the event pay an entrance fee of “pay what you feel”, and enjoy a selection of homemade soups, live music and the chance to vote for their favourite project.
All of the projects will have four minutes to pitch their idea at the event and answer four questions from the audience. The audience then vote, and the winner receives all of the money raised from entrance on the door and any additional donations.
Live music on the evening will be from The Subways frontman Billy Lunn.
The event on Thursday 30th August will be the third ever SOUP event, with previous winners including homelessness charity Streets 2 Homes and Aspire Support Learn (ASL), who both received hundreds of pounds towards their respective projects.
