Former chair of Harlow Council celebrates 101st birthday

History / Thu 31st Jan 2019 at 09:20am

THE FORMER chair of Harlow Council, Donald Legat Anderson is celebrating his 101st birthday today (Thursday).

Donald lives in Birmingham now, close to his family but he was one of Harlow New Town’s pioneers, moving into the “first streets” of the new town in the late forties.

His late wife, Sonia, was also a councillor and the wonderful sculpture, Solo Flight, that stands on First Avenue, is dedicated to her.

In 2017, YH went to visit Donald as part of our “Harlow is 70: Why They Came Here” project.

Happy Birthday Donald.
