Support hospital chaplain’s mega challenge in Harvey Centre – 18 April
A HOSPITAL chaplain is taking on a mega challenge in aid of his hospital – and is hoping people will come and support his mammoth effort at the Harvey Centre, Harlow, on Thursday 18 April.
Revd Christian Okeke, chaplaincy team lead at The Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust, will undertake a gruelling 10-hour endurance challenge in the town centre mall, so please come and cheer him on as he sweats it out.
Christian will test his stamina on a treadmill and cross-trainer for a full 10 hours, starting at 8am and finishing at 6pm. He is taking on the marathon event with the aim of raising vital funds for the hospital charity, to enhance patient care, purchase special equipment, improve facilities and invest in vital research which is beyond the scope or limits of the NHS.
The intrepid chaplain, who has been at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust for nearly four years, has been training hard for the past two months. He would welcome everyone’s support as he pounds the treadmill for a good cause.
Christian said: “In the week before Easter, our thoughts turn to ways in which we can do our bit, however small, for the good of our communities and particularly those who are in ill health or need special care. This effort is my contribution to aid the tireless work of our staff at the hospital every day to care for patients. My aim is to help raise funds to provide extra support for their work and continue to improve patient care.”
If you would like to sponsor Christian you can do so on the Just Giving page.
