SHOPS and businesses are open as usual while works continues to take place in Potter Street.

The refurbishment continues with ground works to the front of the shopping centre well underway.

A new footpath to the front of the site has been constructed and is opened to the public.

The new entrance to the car park has also been constructed. A geogrid (soft ground matting) has been laid to reinforce the ground below the new car park and levels are now being built back up ready for tarmacking.

Refurbishment of the flats are progressing with new windows now installed and steel ceiling joist reinforcement works now complete.

Harlow Council and the contractor – Vinci Facilities – appreciate that access around the front of the site is difficult, but this is necessary to allow for continuation of trade and the completion of the works. The contractor has increased signage on site, highlighting access routes to the various shops

Additional signage has been arranged, which will advertise that the shops are open for business as usual and that parking is available to the rear of the site. This additional signage will be on site within the next couple of weeks.

As works progress, areas of the site will have restricted access and alternatives routes arranged. Due to the nature of the works site layout will change on a regular basis, to ensure the health and safety of the public, retailers and contractors at all times.

The contractor is in regular contact with the retailers and officers from the Council’s Regeneration Team are attending the site for weekly inspections.

Works are due for completion at the end of June 2019.
