Holy Cross celebrate International Week
Education: Primary / Mon 22nd Jul 2019 at 08:01am
THE staff and children of Holy Cross Catholic Primary Academy have had an amazing International Week. This is an annual event that the whole school look forward to every year.
Every class becomes a different country for the week and their learning is dedicated to that country. The kitchen staff change their menu up and cook a range of foods from different countries, this year we saw Austrian, Italian and Welsh food to name a few.
Monday, the children made passports to kick off their learning, Tuesday, some of the Polish mums came in and taught children from each year group about Poland, Wednesday, the children collected their passports from the check in desks and went off to travel the world for the day, working their way around the different countries and taking part in activities based around them. Friday, saw the children dress in their national clothes and take part in international workshops including didgeridoo, Indian drumming, international dancing and World fusion.
This was all finished off perfectly despite the British weather at the fantastic food festival in the marquee with foods provided from all over the world by the generous and supportive families bringing the community together.
The children also performed dances for the parents from the various countries they have been studying. As always it was a brilliant way to end the school year. Here’s to the next one…
