Harlow MP Robert Halfon expresses delight at new hospital for Harlow

Health / Sun 29th Sep 2019 at 08:26am

A MOMENTOUS day for Harlow, as the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has announced that the Princess Alexandra NHS Hospital Trust will receive hundreds of millions of pounds of Government funding to build a brand new hospital for Harlow.

This announcement comes after a tireless campaign led by Harlow MP, Robert Halfon, culminating in a visit by the Prime Minister to the hospital on Friday, where he met with staff and patients.

The capital funding will be used to commence plans and building works for a new hospital on the preferred site close to the new M11 7a junction.

Since his election in 2010, Robert has made the case for a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital health campus to bring healthcare in Harlow into the 21st century.

He has raised the need for a new hospital in Harlow on more than 40 occasions in the House of Commons and led 5 Parliamentary debates – described by one former Health Minister as, what “may be a record in the House of Commons”.

He has tabled 11 parliamentary motions and secured visits from two Health Secretaries, Matt Hancock and Jeremy Hunt, as well as the former Health Ministers, Stephen Hammond and Philip Dunne.

Robert has worked hard with the hospital’s executive team, led by Chief Executive, Lance McCarthy, to campaign for capital funding. Since 2010, Robert has secured cash injections from the Government, including £9.5 million to provide additional bed capacity in December 2018, but has always campaigned for a long-term solution.

Commenting on this fantastic news, Robert Halfon MP said: “I am absolutely thrilled this day has come. This new hospital will transform healthcare for everyone in Harlow and all across West Essex.

“I’m so delighted that the hard work of our incredible NHS staff, right through from the porters, cleaners, ancillary staff, nurses and doctors, to the executive team, led by the brilliant Lance McCarthy, has finally paid off and we can start building a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital health campus in our town.

“I have worked hard with so many brilliant, passionate people on this campaign and I can’t thank everyone enough for all that they have done.

“This Government is championing our NHS and investing where it matters most.”

“For the rest of my life I know that I will have played a major part in getting a new hospital for our wonderful town of Harlow. I could not be more happy”.

Thanks for your determined efforts over the last few years for all that you have done for the residents of Harlow and the villages. The end result, fantastic.

Robert Halfon has sold his soul to obtain this BUT there is an election coming. Never trust a Tory. Let’s wait until the building starts before celebrating.

Boris Johnson otherwise known as the clown is back rolling in the smelly stuff with promises that would make even Thatcher roll her disgusting eyes. Apparently the magic money tree has been found but sadly a full forest of them will be needed to reverse the ten years of austerity cuts. 40 new hospitals [PAH will be included according to the clown] will be promised apparently but what about improving the ones we already have? Oh I get it, Trump wouldn't buy the great Royal London or the fantastic Moorfields: too old and he wouldn't be seen dead in them, sadly! Then 20,000 "new" police officers to replace the 25,000 cut in the last nine years is just a falsehood. The clown is not funny just a mendacious man with no values, no principles or in the Supreme Court words: Null and unlawful.

Mickey, I'm surprised that you are so happy with this, given your objections to the new M11 7a junction a few months ago. I think you had concerns about the traffic levels in the area? I wonder which will come first - M11 J7a or the replacement hospital? If the junction come first, will there be enough left over in the pot after the other 5 hospitals have started their work? The Clown may have promised 40 new hospitals, but that was another lie. 6 hospitals will be replaced/reconfigured, sharing £2.7B between them. A further 21 trusts will get £100m of seed-funding between them to “kick-start” their plans for the end of the next decade. None of this tackles severe staff shortages with nearly 100,000 vacancies in NHS trusts. There was an episode of Yes, Minister where a new hospital won awards for safety, cleanliness and efficency. When it was built they didn't have ehough money for medical services and so no patients. The Compassionate Society. Satire becomes reality.

Can't you just sniff the aroma of jealousy and cant from this un-grateful mob of Marxists. Have a read of what Steptoe and his braying mob are promising, a touch of La-La land or what ? Bring on the election, sooner than later, alles kaput for the Reds !
