Love hope and solidarity sisters wherever you are.
HARLOW Council portfolio holder for governance equality and diversity, councillor Lanie Shears is celebrating International Women’s Day
American poet Maya Angelou. Wrote in her poem “Phenomenal Women”
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me
Cllr Shears said: “To all the women of Harlow and beyond. Happy International Women’s Day.
Today we celebrate womens achievments. Raise awaress against gender bias, remember our sisters and their struggles all over the world.
The struggle for women’s rights continues.
Women all over the world are fighting gender bias in one form or another. FGM, forced marriage, not being allowed an education, sex slavery.
We must stand with our sisters for equality and an end to male violence against women.
Men I know stand and fight with us because they recognise this is their fight too.
While we celebrate and raise awareness today. I wanted to give a special shout out to every Woman who has experienced or is experiencing domestic and or sexual abuse. Women who fight, daily to live and rebuild their lives after horrific abuse.
To each and everyone of you be proud of yourself, stand tall and remember you deserve better. You are a phenomenal woman.
“So women. have a wonderful day and carry on the fight for womens equality everywhere.
Solidarity”.
