Funerals: reminder and reassurance at at this challenging time

Communities / Fri 3rd Apr 2020 at 08:49am

FUNERAL arrangements are never easy things to prepare and are often hard to even talk about. This challenging but necessary task is even harder in the present circumstances, brought about by the coronavirus and the important adjustments we are all having to make.

Though Harlow’s church buildings are closed, in many ways it has become easier to speak to local vicars, priests and ministers and we want to assure people that a Church of England funeral remains available to all, at the Crematorium or graveside.

Rev Martin Harris, Harlow’s Area Dean and Team Rector at St Paul’s Church in the town centre said “We want to remind and reassure people, that despite closed buildings, Christian ministers are always here to help through one of life’s most difficult times. We are willing, able and experienced at helping people plan the service they want, reflecting the lives of their loved ones and celebrating those lives in accordance with their wishes and that of their families.”

Harlow’s churches have strong relationships with key partners in the town, such as Princess Alexandra Hospital, St Clare’s Hospice, Daniel Robinson and Sons and other local funeral directors.

Martin said, “Naturally there are rules and regulations all celebrants have to stick to, and some of these are changing, but we are committed to being as flexible as we can and above all providing people with the support they need.”

Martin can be contacted for further information by phone on: 01279 411100 or by email: [email protected]. He also remind us that Harlow Foodbank remains open at St Paul’s and the Salvation Army.
