We are (the Roydon Primary Academy) family!
TEACHERS, support staff and pupils from Roydon Primary Academy, in Harlow, have come together to produce a fun lockdown video.
With schools partially closed and families instructed to stay home during the pandemic, social media has become awash with imaginative videos bringing people together.
The Roydon Primary community decided to get involved, producing a video featuring every adult and child to the theme tune of We are Family.
Headteacher Michael Clark said: “We know our children are all working hard, so we decided to have a little bit of fun.
“Our teachers and supporting staff all recorded videos of us having some catching practise. We wanted our pupils to join in as they are part of the Roydon family; they make the biggest part of the Roydon family. We wanted one big Roydon family video.
“It was our way of getting together during these unprecedented times, to maintain contact with the children and to raise spirits in what is a difficult time for everyone.”
Pupils were challenged to produce a video of themselves catching a toilet roll from the left and then throwing it to their right.
All of the videos were then stitched together to look like a big game of catch.
Mr Clark said: “One of the best things about Roydon is the relationships the staff build with the children and community. During our partial school closure, staff have been missing the children and we have also had lots of messages from children asking when they can come back.
“We wanted to do something, so we could all still see each other and have some fun. So, we thought we would throw a toilet roll around; something we know everyone has at home!
“We hope the video brings a smile to the children’s faces during this difficult time. We miss them and hope to see them again soon. We are family!”
