Bidding for council houses restarts

HARLOW Council has started advertising homes which are available to rent for those on the housing needs register.

The homes can be bid for at www.harlowhomefinder.co.uk

The council says that the availability of homes will be limited each week and allocations are being made on a phased basis. Allocations and lettings of homes continue to be prioritised for homeless households and those in housing need.

The service was on temporary hold due to the coronavirus outbreak and while the council updated its processes based on the latest government public health guidance.

There is currently a backlog of empty council properties which are being addressed by HTS who have restarted works within these properties following new government guidelines. Homes will be re-let only when they are ready and it is safe to do so.

The council knows that some residents may be anxious at this time about moving and the council will not put pressure on anyone if they are not ready or able to do so at this time

Mutual exchanges remain on hold at this time but are being reviewed following the latest government guidance.

The Civic Centre remains closed to the public until further notice but residents can still contact the council about housing-related issues by phone on 01279 446655 and access services and information online at www.harlow.gov.uk

Hi, I have seen what looks like a empty house round the corner from where I live and would like to know if it would be at all possible for me to swap our 2bed flat for this house. I live in mark hall moors and have been on this flat for 11 nearly 12 years now. I would love for my now 12 year old daughter, my fiancée and our 2dogs to have a garden to enjoy. Do the council ever offer places to current tenets? We shave even on HomeSwapper for a good few years but had no luck.
