AT the end of June, 1st Church Langley Guides met up with 1st Tye Green Guides over Zoom for their first ever virtual guide meeting and Guide enrolment.
Priya who started Guides earlier this year was due to make her ‘promise’ just after the Covid -19 lockdown but was unable to. During the online meeting Priya confidently made her promise with her friends and with a bit of zoom trickery and organisation, JayJay, the leader was able to hand over Priya’s promise badge, badge book and patrol emblem, to put on her uniform, making Harlow Guiding history.
The meeting was such a success that the girls met again last week and enjoyed a fun quiz on Guiding and chocolate brand slogans.
This week the Guide units will be joined by 1st Church Langley Brownies for a session making ‘armpit fudge’, which sounds disgusting but is great fun to make and eat.
JayJay said “the girls were really excited to be making Guiding history and also taught some of the Guiders some new technical tricks too which was nice, I would certainly recommend giving an online meeting a try, it’s much easier than you think and the best bit is that you don’t have to get the girls to clear up the mess they make!
The Guide units are now regularly meeting via Zoom, anyone who is interested in joining the unit or as an adult helper can find out further information on the Girlguiding Website.
