A SCHOOL’S nature area has been transformed into an outdoor learning space.
With strict measures in place for the return of schools in September, outdoor learning opportunities have been expanded.
At Cooks Spinney Primary Academy, in Harlow, a team of staff tidied up a nature area.
Headteacher Neil Stirrat said: “We had a good tidy up of our existing nature area ready for the new academic year.
“The area has always held such promise, but was underutilised and was very overgrown. With more outdoor learning being encouraged due to Coronavirus, we thought it was the perfect time to get the nature area cut back, tidied up and prepared as an outdoor classroom.”
Art lessons will be given in the outdoor class, as well art and craft-based learning linked to the science and art curriculum.
A bird hide, bird feeders and bird boxes are being added to the area, along with a campfire, herb garden and sensory trail.
