The Square: “They paved paradise and put up a parking lot”

THE LOSS of the legendary music venue The Square on Fourth Avenue has been well documented. (see letter from Barbara Burge from The Civic Society for details)

People have seen it close, be demolished and then waited for houses to be built.

And waited and waited and waited.

This week, the land has been advertised as available to rent.

It has been described as “a yard”

So what was once a cultural venue. A place of dreams and joy and pleasure may well end up as a car wash.

Maybe Rose Royce could come and play (one for the seventies disco queens).

The yard is advertised as follows:

The site.. has a presumed C3/E/Sui Generis (former A4) use, though the initial indication is that Harlow Council will support a variety of short-term uses on the site, subject to confirmation. We recommend that interested parties make their own enquiries with the Planning Department.

Perhaps somebody could apply to put a music venue there. Like a drop down portable venue.

If you build it………….
