Church Langley man escapes jail after ringing woman 162 times in a day

A HARLOW man has escaped jail after admitted harassing a woman by telephoning her 162 times in a day.

Leon Oxenham, aged 30, of Malkins Drive, Church Langley, Harlow appeared for sentencing at Chelmsford magistrates court to the following today (Friday).

On 14/10/2020 and 15/10/2020 at Harlow pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of a woman and which you knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that between 14th to 15th October 2020 you called her 162 times and messaged her several times.

This was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence order made by Chelmsford Crown Court on 13/02/2020 for an offence of harassment.

Oxenham was sentenced to the following:

  1. Harassment – Community Order for a period of 24 months
    30 months alcohol treatment
    20 Rehabilitation Days
    Building Better Relationship Programme
    Victims surcharge of: £90
  2. Commission of further offence during Suspended Sentence Order – £1 fine (1 day imprisonment in default)
