Ward by ward: Little Parndon and Hare Street: Can Vince convince?

IF THERE is one councillor you know will have walked his ward then it is councillor Chris Vince (usually with his litter picking equipment in hand).

It would be fair to say that he is one of the hardest working councillors around.

You get the feeling he just loves the very nature of the “job”.

He not only likes the role as a local councillor but also thrives in positions such as the portfolio holder for community well-being, the Police, Crime and Fire Commissioner to name just two.

Of course, these reviews should be about the ward and not the incumbent councillor.

In many ways the ward is the type of ward that Labour must attract a lot more votes if they are ever to get a Labour MP for Harlow again. It has a changing demographic and lots of people that used to vote for them.

There is also a lot of people concerned with issues such as affordable housing.

So we are saying that Chris Vince may well win but he may want use his own ward as a battleground for Labour votes to come.

It is good to see a Jolles on the ballot paper. Adam is the son of former councillors Joshua and Muriel Jolles, both of who have sadly passed away. We hope to interview him next week.

It will be interesting to see what he gauges as success? The Tories believe they can gain four wards in Harlow. Could this be one?

In 2019, Labour had a 482 majority. There was a UKIP candidate then but those voters may stay at home.

Prediction: Lab Hold
