Update: Statement from Harlow Council
“We are determined that the vandals won’t win and we will be replacing the hoops as soon as we can so local residents can use the basketball courts to stay fit and active
THREE of the four basketball hoops on Nicholls Field have now gone.
At times, it was a busy thriving court for players to practice their lay-ups, three pointers or play games of one on one.
But no more.
Should Harlow Council replace them or is that just wasting taxpayers money?
It just seems a shame that a tiny minority have spoilt fun for a majority.
At the time of filming, on a sunny afternoon in April, HTS were busy clearing up an area in the far corner, two Harlow Wombles were tidying the cycle track and people were walking their dogs.
However, that the park is like nearer sunset may be a different proposition.
A few weeks ago, two boys had their bikes stolen at knifepoint, just metres away from this court.
YH has contacted Harlow Council and is awaiting a statement.
