Is it time for a Lib-Dem revival in Harlow?

News / Sat 24th Apr 2021 at 04:40pm

YOU don’t have to go too far back to a time when the Lib-Dems in Harlow shared power with the Conservatives.

The ward of Bush Fair had three Lib Dem councillors and they would be seen out regularly in their wards with community event such as their regular gazebo meets.

But 2010 and the coalition (tuition fees) came along and their popularity was blown to pieces.

They have talked about a comeback in Harlow but that has never got going.

Many were impressed with the Lib Dem candidate, Charlotte Cane’s performance in the General Election of 2019. Yes, the bar may have been pretty low with keeping the deposit being a win but they felt it might be the start of a long way back.

So now we come to the new chair of the Harlow Lib Dems, William Tennison.

Young, articulate and intelligent, William is determined to offer the Lib Dems as an alternative to Labour and the Conservatives.

At the moment, many feel that the two sides are at each other’s throats and perhaps, just perhaps they may be tempted to vote Lib Dem.

YH went down to Bush Fair to speak to William Tennison.
