Harlow Town set to join others around the country in supporting a social media blackout
Football / Fri 30th Apr 2021 at 09:20am
IN response to continued discriminatory abuse across social media, aimed at players and others connected to football, Harlow Town will join football clubs and organisations in a boycott of social media platforms between 15:00 on Friday 30th April and 23:59 on Monday 3rd May.
The FA, Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out, the FSA and football clubs from all tiers of the pyramid and grassroots level will be taking part in the boycott.
A spokesperson said: “At Harlow Town we believe that racism and other forms of discrimination have no place in football or society as a whole, and we recognise that although this action will not eliminate online discriminatory abuse by itself, it signifies that the football community is coming together in the continued fight against this blight on the game we love.
“We add our voices to the call for social media companies, government and other stakeholders to come together in the fight against discrimination and ensure that those responsible are ultimately held accountable”.
