Teenager made subject of criminal behaviour order after knife and drug offences in town park

A HARLOW TEENAGER has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a number of drugs and offensive weapon charges committed in Harlow Town Park.

The sixteen-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Chelmsford magistrates court. He had pleaded guilty to the following.

On March 28th, 2021 at Harlow had with you, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place, School Lane, Harlow, an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, a large silver knife with brown handle and sheath. 

On March 28th 2021 at Harlow had in your possession a quantity of cannabis a controlled drug of class B with intent to supply it to persons unknown.

On March 28th, 2021 at Harlow had in your possession a quantity of cocaine, a controlled drug of class A with intent to supply it to unknown persons.

On March 28th, 2021 at Harlow used or threatened unlawful violence towards other persons and your conduct was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.

The teenage had also pleaded guilty to committing all these offences whilst being subject to a youth rehabilitation order.

  1. Conviction of an offence while a youth rehabilitation order made by North Essex Youth Court on 12/02/2021 is in force. Robbed a male of a motorbike worth £850.00

2. On March 31st, 2020 at Harlow and Pye Corner drove a motor vehicle, namely a Volkswagen Touran
on a public road, through Harlow and Pye Corner when the proportion of a controlled drug, in your blood exceeded the specified limit.

3. On March 31st, 2020, knowing that a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely VW Touran, had been taken without the consent of the owner or other lawful authority, drove the said vehicle, and after the vehicle was unlawfully taken and before it was recovered, damage was caused to the vehicle due to crashing into traffic causing the vehicle to be written off.

The teenager was made subject of a criminal behaviour order.

The defendant must not:

1) Exclusion from the area of Harlow to be monitored by GPS tag for a period of 12 months unless for an appointment authorised by Essex police, Youth Offending team or Essex social service.

2) Must not be in possession of or own more than one mobile phone which is capable of holding more than one sim card and this number must be provided to Essex police and Youth offending team.

3) Non associations with ten named persons. Not to contact directly or indirectly or through any third party.

4. Carry out unpaid work for 80 hours within the next twelve months. 

5. Defendant was made subject of a curfew.
