Bid to remove “affordable homes” from Adams House in town centre

General / Mon 24th May 2021 am31 07:06am

OWNERS of property in the town centre have asked to change the wording in a planning application to remove the requirement for “affordable housing”.

The application refers to Adams House near the Market Square.

It states: “Home Group have provided social housing in 28 flats at Adams House since 2000.

“Due to high voids, anti-social behaviour and management issues, Home Group made the decision to move all customers to more suitable accommodation.

“The property has now been vacant for over 18 months. Home Group have agreed a disposal of the property. In order to progress the sale and bring the property back in to use, the removal of the “affordable” housing condition which applied to 7 units is requested to be removed.

“Home Group request that the condition be removed. This will enable the property to be brought back in to use and provide residential accommodations for the Harlow community.”

The full application can be seen in the May section of the Harlow Council planning portal.
