HARLOW’S MP, Robert Halfon, is continuing his long-running campaign to cut the cost of living by reducing energy bills. On Wednesday in the House of Commons he strongly welcomed the steps the Government is taking to tackle climate change, but asked the Minister to ensure that those measures “will not mean a more expensive Britain, hitting the low-paid with extra costs and increasing the cost of living for ordinary folk”.
The Minister explained that the Government “are committed to driving savings and making our homes better insulated with more energy-efficient measures” and that over £4.7 billion of extra support is going to low-income and vulnerable households.
Mr Halfon has successfully campaigned on this issue for many years and which helped to deliver the energy price cap to keep bills lower for Harlow residents.
