Rainbow Services Tech Library service

RAINBOW Services started the Tech Library Project in November 2020, in order to connect people during the pandemic, many of whom were experiencing loneliness and isolation.

The project involves a free of charge short term loan of a tablet and mobile wifi dongle. The loan aims to help those who have no access to data and/or technology due to financial or living circumstances, older residents and those with additional support needs who may not have used tech before but would like to try it.  All users are provided with a basic step by step guide on how to use the equipment but Rainbow also provide Digital Buddy Volunteers, who are only a phonecall away for help.

The project has been very successful so far, with some users going on to buy their own tablets, something they would not have done had they not used the Tech Library service. The project is continuing post Covid and Rainbow are also in the process of setting up free technology support classes, so that users can come in and learn how to use the equipment.
