Registered blind mum has bag containing vital items stolen at Harlow boot sale

Crime / Sat 24th Jul 2021 at 06:20am

A MOTHER of four who is registered blind had her bag containing vital items stolen at a boot sale – so her 11-year-old daughter has launched a fundraising appeal.

Heartbroken Sarah Millard, 31, was selling items on a stall at the sale in Harlow on Sunday July 11 when a thief struck.

The bag, which she had bought only a week earlier from River Island, contained her iPhone, medicine for her glaucoma and a magnifying glass.

Sarah said: “I’m so upset, everything in the bag is no good to anyone else, but the iPhone is the only one I can get along with.”

Sarah was doubly upset after she was accused of being a “scammer” when she posted news of the theft on a Harlow Facebook group.

Her 11-year-old daughter Sophie set up a Gofundme page to help make up for the theft.

On it she says: “I am fundraising for my blind mum. She is the best mum ever!!

“Something not very nice happened to her on Sunday. She went to Harlow car boot sale to make some extra money to take me and my siblings out in the holidays. At around 12.30 she had her bag stolen from the boot of the car.

“It had her eyedrops inside, her magnifier that she needs to read and cannot see without it. Also her iPhone 12 mini in black was in the bag.

“All I would like [is] for my mum to get a new phone and eyeglass as she really deserves it.”
