Letter to Editor: Electrical safety first this Christmas

WITH Christmas approaching it is likely that a large number of electrical goods will be given as presents, but will people take the time to register them with the manufacturer?
The registration of these items allows manufacturers to notify customers of any defects that require remedial action.
However, the Electrical Safety First (ESF) charity says, “In the UK, the response rate to an electrical product recall is worryingly low, largely due to people failing to register their appliances. This means that there are potentially millions of recalled electrical items still in the UK.”
In the months July to September 13 product recall notices were published by ESF.

For those who have forgotten to register their electrical products the ESF have a portal where any make may be registered: https://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/product-recalls/product-registration/
