Letter to Editor: Labour brought unauthorised encampments back into town

Dear Editor,
It is sad to see that some unauthorised traveller encampments have returned to Harlow. This has only been allowed to happen because the previous Labour Council did not renew the injunction our town had.
Harlow was blighted by hundreds of unauthorised encampments a few years ago. This was only ended because the town secured an injunction against allowing any caravans to pull up.
When the injunction came up for renewal last year, the then Labour Council and it’s Leader Mark Ingall decided not to renew the injunction allowing unauthorised encampments to return to our town.
Because they didn’t renew it at the time it will now be even harder to get a new one.
It’s Harlow Council Taxpayers who always have to foot the bill to clear up the mess. It’s Harlow Council Taxpayers that had to pay the increase in tax every year under Labour.
They ran our town into the ground and they welcomed unauthorised encampments back into Harlow with open arms.

The Tories know full well that the reason for not renewing the injunction was due to legal advice that a renewal application would not succeed. The decision was taken to not waste tax payers money on fighting a hopeless case. Surely even a Tory can approve of such a sensible decision.
Yes. Let's focus on this issue and not the disastrous redevelopments that are in the process of destroying valuable green belt and the Stort Valley that the Conservative Party are reluctant to call a halt to inspite of opposition from members of the public.... Maybe that's the plan though; build on every available piece of land that way Travellers won't have anywhere to park up...
The courts said it would be rejected if they tried to renew it.
Maybe we have more chance of having the injunction renewed now that we can show that the traveller problem has come back without it. Also we have 2 official traveller camps in Harlow which should negate the need for illegal camps in the eyes of the judiciary.
Labour should never be trusted with power again and any judge not granting an injunction to stop this should be sacked
Well it works for the Government, get into power and blame Labour for everything that goes wrong, why shouldn’t it work for Local Authorities.
