Dementia-friendly cinema showings return to Harlow
Charity / Wed 11th May 2022 pm31 03:14pm
DEMENTIA friendly cinema screenings in Harlow are set to start up this week.
The sessions were popular pre-lockdown, so it is great news that they are set to re-launch.
The screenings are a partnership between Cineworld and Dementia community champion Tess Harvey, who runs Tess Dementia Services.
The first session begins tomorrow (Thursday) at 1.4pm at Cineworld at the Queensgate Centre off Edinburgh Way.
Thursday’s film will be Downton Abbey 2.
Dementia friendly means no adverts. The volume will be lowered so it doesn’t startle anyone and the lights will only be dimmed but not pitch black.
Also everyone that attends is aware it’s dementia friendly and so will be very understanding if your loved one talks sings dances or whatever they choose to do.
Carers go free.
That is so lovely to hear what a brilliant idea I wish them every success with these screenings ❤
Well done, Cineworld.
What a wonderful thing to do. Dementia and caters need to be considered. Thank you
