ON Saturday July 30th Herts & Essex Community Farm will be returning with their first Farm Fest since 2019. The festival is free and is aimed at bringing the local community together, with fun for all ages. The last two years’ events have been cancelled due to the pandemic.
Local musicians including Harlow Rock School, Jo Clack, Ian Treherne aka The Blind Photographer, Caitlin Brown and Zach Thompson will be performing, whilst over in the peaceful willow classroom guests can enjoy talks on topics such as photography, whale conservation and dementia.

There will be a BBQ with locally sourced produce and vegetarian options, whilst the farm kitchen will serve up a range of vegan options including curry, chilli and Lebanese tabbouleh. The Farm Shop will be selling produce grown at the farm as well as a range of jams, oils, teas, herbs and beauty products all made with the same organic produce grown at the farm.
“We are so looking forward to being back with Farm Fest this year! Our last event in 2019 was a great success and our busiest ever event. We have a lot to celebrate as we have substantially developed the community farm during the pandemic, despite being closed to the public and unable to host our regular events. Come along for what is guaranteed to be a fun day out!” – organiser, Elliot Wollen.
There will also be reiki, tarot and alternative therapies available in the quiet orchard area, as well as a sensory space hosted by Roots to Welbeing near the entrance to the site. Simon from Fun-Filled games will be back with his home-crafted games, and there will be a range of stalls including cake stalls a tombola and old-fashioned games for everyone to enjoy with great prizes for all. Please ensure you bring cash!
All proceeds will go towards furthering the work the Community Farm does, including working with schools, community groups and providing fresh produce to the local homeless charity, Streets 2 Homes.
The event runs from 12 – 6pm and guests are encouraged to arrive by foot or public transport as there is only limited parking available at the nearby St. Thomas More Church in Hodings Road.
Herts & Essex Community Farm is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to promote educational, social, environmental and health benefits to the local community. The project holds regular volunteer days which are open to all and all volunteers are welcome to go home with a share of the produce which is all organically grown.
