So let me get this straight.... A person is injured on HAYDENS ROAD and is sent by the AIR AMBULANCE to PAH which is about a 30 to 40 second driver from HAYDENS ROAD??????? Seriously this a complete joke... 1 - To transport the person by road is FAR QUICKER 2 - Even with a person on board you have to go though about a 5 min safety check of the aircraft. Again essex & harlow complete joke!

To the first comment, would the Air Ambulance not have been sent in case the person needed to be transported to a specialist hospital further afield? The article doesn't actually say how they got to PAH. More likely in an ambulance I'd guess.

As long as the person involved in the accident is OK I would say that is all that matters. The last email person I would say oh get a life.so sorry for saying this but life is to short to winch

People forget one role of Air Ambulance is not transportation (which is part of the role) but delivery of specialist Drs and Nurses to the scene quickly to patient in need

I get where you’re coming from, looks & seems silly for sending the helicopter in when a perfectly functional A&E is 3 minute drive But, the injured person would’ve been assessed by paramedic / trauma dr, and decision would’ve been taken that, the persons injury is so severe that the best way to convey this chap is by air, and in that time they’ll be deciding if needs to go to specialist injury unit at another hospital. So, as close to hospital it is, whatever is the safest mode of transport is the right way to go

I broke my knee over at nicklesfield, I lay there for 20 minutes, before a young man phoned for ambulance, then waited another harf hour before a paramedic car pull up, knowing that I'd broke my knee, because I couldn't get up, they then needed to give me morphine to get my knee to bend , to get me in said car. Now if this was a leg injury, we don't know how serious this leg injury was, details very vague for some reason, so we have to work with what we got. But I didn't even get an ambulance, so a helicopter does seem a bit extreme. More facts would be good. Some rude comments, no need for them , we all allowed an opinion.

Heli was to bring doctors to the scene and ready to take to alternate hospital if not supported at PAH, not sent to necessarily transport!
