Fire crews fight a field fire in Newhall

TEN crews and an off road vehicle dealt with a field fire in Gilden Way, Harlow, yesterday evening.
They were called at 4.54pm to reports of three hectares of grass and 200 metres of hedgerow alight.
Station Manager Dave Bond said: “Crews worked incredibly hard to deal with this incident and stopped it from spreading further, avoiding the Norman burial site in the area.
Well done and thank you to them as well as our colleagues from London Fire Brigade and Hertfordshire who were not only with us at this incident, but other fires in Essex throughout yesterday. Suffolk also supported us at other locations.”
The fire was out at 6.40pm.
Very well done to our amazing local fire crews.
Our fire crews have had such a busy day today, well done to them all. I hope the residents have kept them hydrated by offering refreshments.
Saw the smoke and had no idea where it was coming from, neighbours updated me. Within the hour our wonderful fire crews had it under control. Well done and thank you for keeping us safe x
