Travel Alert: M11 closed near Harlow following lorry fire

0830 hrs: All closures have been removed and the #M11 southbound between J7 (#Harlow) and J6 (#M25) is OPEN.

Long delays remain in the area, approx. 6 miles of congestion.

If you’re heading #M11 southbound, please allow an extra 70 minutes journey time.

0730 HRS ONGOING – M11 southbound – Closed between J7 (A414/Harlow) and J6 (M25) after a lorry fire and diesel spillage yesterday evening.

Queues back towards J8 (A120/Stansted).

Also delays on approaches to the M11 J7 Hastingwood roundabout.

Statement from Fire Service

Firefighters were called to a lorry fire on the M11 Southbound between Junctions 7-6, Harlow at 7:38pm.

On arrival, crews reported that the front of the lorry was on fire and heavily smoke logged.

Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to the container and extinguished the fire by 8:19pm.

During the incident, a large amount of fuel spilled onto the road.

The M11 Southbound between Junctions 7-6 will be closed for several hours while the spillage is cleared. Please avoid the area.

THE M11 in Essex is closed southbound from J7 – J6, near Epping, following a HGV fire and oil spillage.

The HGV has split its load of oil across all lanes. Essex County Fire and Rescue service at the location along with National Highway Traffic Officers who are assisting with traffic management.

The road is expected to be closed for a number of hours whilst the fire service deal with the blaze and contractors clear the spillage from the carriageway, and assess the road surface for any damage.

I went past this at about 2015 and two attic lorries were face north in the southbound carriageway but add been brought to a stop by the police.
