WE knew the Harlow and District Scouts wouldn’t let us down and there they were out in force on the day of the Royal Proclamation.

They are a mainstay of many civic events in Harlow from Remembrance Sunday to Royal Visits.

The minute the news was announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died, their flag at School Lane was at half mast.

In many years to come, these scouts can tell their grandchildren where they were the day a new king was proclaimed in Harlow.
