NINE Harlow Gymnastics Club gymnasts represented Essex in the regional finals following on from their outstanding performances at the County levels qualifiers. The gymnasts held their own against strong competition from top-flight gymnasts representing Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridge and Essex.
Nazeing Primary pupil, Poppy-Rose Dear dazzled in the age 8 level 3 event, claiming a trio of silver medals for bars, beam, and floor, as well as 4th position on vault, finishing in an outstanding 2nd place all around.
Absolutely smashing it in only her 3rd competition ever, eight-year-old Hillmead pupil, Marci Short earned the gold medal on beam as well as bronze medals for vault and floor in the level 4 age 9 event. In the same event nine-year-old St Mary’s student Poppy-Rose White competed on vault and won the silver medal on the beam after performing with perfection.
In the level 5 age 10-11 event, eleven-year old former William Martin primary pupil Milli Battelley qualified for floor and vault as well as beam, and was rewarded for her excellent routines with the silver medal on beam. Natasha Bishop competed on floor, bars and beam, securing a bronze regional medal on beam. Eleven-year-old, former Windhill pupil Lara Petridis represented Essex on vault and bars with teammate Maybel Brooks representing on beam and floor, all in the level 5 age 10-11 event.
Representing Essex in the 12-13 level 5 competition, eleven-year old Stewards student Renee Stewart competed on floor, with teammate Sienna Smith competing on vault.
