Athletics: Teamwork makes the dreamwork for Harlow Running Club

HARLOW Running and Tri Club members contested the hilly Ingatestone 5 mile race on Sunday morning which is one of the club’s Championship Races. First home was Martyn Coulter in 14th place out of 142 finishers in an excellent PB time of 30 min 33sec. He was followed home by Martin Westley in 15th place in 30.45, Kirk Crudgington 17th and 3rd Vet 40 in 31.02, Chris Arnell 52nd in 37.22 in his debut at the distance, Linda Helm-Manley 68th in 39.20(Debut), Colin Moody 96th and 1st Vet 70 in 43.39, Kate Porter 99th in 44.00(Debut), Robin Lozeau 114th in 47.40, Alan Wellbelove 124th in 49.05 and Joanne Mills 127th and 1st Female Vet 70 in 50.22. Martyn Coulter, Martin Westley, Kirk Crudgington and Chris Arnell combined to finish as 2nd Men’s Team.    

Meanwhile, at the Duxford Dash 10k Jermaine Shand finished in 17th place out of 147 finishers in a PB time of 42.34, Sean Flynn was 43rd in 49.07, Claire Carter 97th in 58.35(PB) and Harriett Martin 136th in 70.37(Debut).

At the same location in the 5k race Terri Wiley finished in 3rd place out of 78 finishers in a superb PB time of 20.15, Paige Bircham was 8th in 21.50 and James Dowsett 9th in 21.51.

John Tennant finished the Southend 10k in 269th place out of 716 finishers and 2nd Vet 70 in 51.14.

Amanda Martin-Hose was 217th out of 224 finishers in the Run Through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10K in 1hr 18min 27sec.

At the Sandy 10 mile race Gary Mead finished in 101st place out of 212 finishers in 1.22.11 and Debbie Mead was 194th in 1.50.33.

Rob Lowe completed the Age Related Sprint Duathlon at Bilbao, Spain, finishing 8th in the Vet 50 age group out of 24 finishers in 1.08.44.

Laura Prime completed 6 laps of the Zig Zag trail running event at  Hinchingbrook Park, Huntingdon, for a total distance of 19.6 miles in 3hrs 06min 59sec.

There were parkrun PBs at Harlow parkrun from Glen Wilson finishing in 36th place out of 181 finishers in 24.47 and Rob Peters in 68th place in 27.48.

Last week John Tennant ran the 2nd race in the midweek Hatfield 5k Series, finishing in 141st place out of 237 finishers and 1st Vet 70 in 23.33.
