Labour leader questions council boss on staff vacancies and turnover at Harlow Council

THE leader of the Harlow Labour Group has expressed concerns regarding the number of vacancies at Harlow Council.

Councillor Chris Vince expressed his concerns at last Thursday’s meeting.

The council agenda had page after page of vacancies for a variety of positions at Harlow Council.

But Councillor Vince also expressed his concerns at possible staff turnover as well.

He made the comment as Conservative councillor Alastair Gunn had made reference to turnover in a response to an earlier question.

Doesn't exactly pay very well. No wonder why local government fails to attract talent.

Indeed, 20 references to vacancies in the reports to Cabinet. Under the Governance portfolio it adds up to just short of £504,000 in wages underspend.
