THE HIGH Sheriff of Essex Nick Alston and MP Robert Halfon attended a Harlow Hindu Society event on Friday night.
The visit to the event, held at Our Lady of Fatima, came in the middle of Navarati.
Navaratri, which means “nine nights,” is a festival that honours the Devi, the great Goddess and divine Mother, Maa Durga.
Proceedings were led by the President of the Harlow Hindu Society, Nishall Garala.
During the event, The High Sheriff of Essex also presented his Award to Madhavi Joshi, Babulal Dattani, Mrs C V Patel & Nishall Garala for their long-term service to the local Hindu community. The Hindu Society’s Committee was also honoured with an award for their hard work.
Harlow MP Robert Halfon made a speech praising the work of the society.
It was a great honour host our MP, Robert Halfon and the High Sheriff of Essex, Nick Alston to Navratri Festival organised by the Harlow Hindu Society. Everyone enjoyed doing the GARBA ‘clap dance’ and Dandia ‘stick dance’. Please look up the ‘ Harlow Hindu Society ‘ website for future events.
