Harlow primary schools enjoy Basketball competition

WITH rising cases of sickness around the town and a BMAT INSET day, unsurprisingly the numbers of entries for this year’s Basketball events were well down on previous years.
That said, the 15 teams that joined us for the events enjoyed themselves immensely and definitely improved throughout the sessions. The standard of play was good as was the levels of sportsmanship on display. Some great baskets were scored, and it was pleasing to see a few different schools venture across to Mark Hall Academy Sports Centre.
The morning event only had 5 teams – so a round robin was played. The afternoon had 10 teams who were placed into 2 groups, with ranked games to finish the day.
The results of the day were as follows:
Morning Session:
Saint Nicholas – 10 points
Holy Cross 1 – 10 points
Holy Cross 2 – 10 points
Hatfield Heath 1 (Year 6’s) – 6 points
Hatfield Heath 2 (Year 5’s) 4 points
Afternoon Session:
Group 1
Nazeing 1 – 11 points
Pemberley Academy 1 – 10 points
Katherines – 8 points
Fawbert and Barnard 2 – 7 points
Nazeing 3 – 4 points
Group 2
Nazeing 2 – 10 points
Fawbert and Barnard 1 – 10 points
Pemberley Academy 2 – 7 points
Nazeing 4 – 7 points
Jerounds – 6 points
As ever, thank you to the school staff who continue to put their children forward for the opportunities on offer. Thanks to Gill Pardoe and Harry Stacey for assisting David Stacey (SGO) in providing such great experiences, the children really enjoy trying different sports in a friendly but competitive environment.
