ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire in an industrial unit in Harlow this morning (Saturday).

On arrival at Fourth Avenue, crews – 2 x Harlow, 1 x Waltham Abbey, 1 x Hoddeston (Hertfordshire FRS) 1 x Hertford (Hertfordshire FRS) – reported that the building was heavily smoked logged. Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the building to extinguish the fire.

Crews worked to extinguish a fire within a cardboard compacting machine by 7:29am.

The cause of the fire was accidental and was contained to the machine.
