RESIDENTS and carers at sheltered accomodation have slammed Harlow Council over delays to vital repairs to a front door.
The problem is so serious that some residents have been not been able to get out of the accomodation at St Michael’s Close (off Maddox Road) for weeks.
YH went down to speak to resident Eddie Mitchell and Vanessa Garrett, who cares for her mother, in order to find out more.
A Harlow Council spokesperson said: “The delay is unacceptable and due to HTS awaiting specialist parts. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents and we hope that this situation is resolved as soon as possible.”
YH has also spoke to Netteswell councillor James Griggs (Lab). He said: “I think this is appalling that this is taking so long.
“Not only is it unsafe for residents in the event of an emergency it also severely impedes accessibility for less able residents.
“I will continue to pursue this and demand answers and results.”
